We offer assistance, both immediate and long-term, to those who have been impacted by catastrophic injury.

If you’d like to help us , why not join one of our fund-raising events, or even organise your own event?

Hearts & Balls is managed and administered solely by volunteers and does not employ any paid staff.

HOW WE HELP

Alastair Kellock

"I was very fortunate to play the sport I love for many years but have also seen first-hand the effect severe injury can have on a person’s life. The work Hearts and Balls is doing is incredible and I encourage you to support in any way you can."

Rugby brings immense pleasure and a sense of community to millions of people, but occasionally, like many other sports, it brings tragedy instead.

Hearts & Balls was conceived in 1999 when a player from the Lismore Rugby Club in Edinburgh suffered a serious spinal injury that left him paralysed. Having run a highly successful appeal, Lismore decided to widen its support to cover other players impacted by serious injury or illness. Thus, Hearts & Balls came into being with the aim of ‘helping rugby help its own’.
